Fashion Whimsy: Dive Into the Little Mermaid-Inspired Disney Couture Collection

I've had a bit of an obsession with Disney Couture for some time now. I don't know why but there's something kind of special and enchanting about adult-sized charms and jewelry based on one's childhood movie favorites. Disney fans and jewelry lovers alike must get in on the fabulous new collection. Just in time for summer, it's inspired by an all-time favorite: The Little Mermaid.

This new offering from Disney Couture offers a clever new take on ‘Under the Sea’ imagery, including treasure chests, shark jaws, coral, harpoons, sandcastles, and shells. Green fish scales, mother of pearl, gold - it's a treasure even Captain Hook would love (even though he's not part of THIS film.)

Characters from the film are represented in the whimsical collection, like Flounder and Ariel necklace and bracelet charms and a fantastic crystal-embellished tentacle ring pays homage to ultimate bad girl Ursula the Sea Witch. It's truly a great collection and a beautiful way to make a style statement this summer.

Made from genuine freshwater pearl, enamel, crystals, mother of pearl, gold plating and glass, the pieces range in price from $34-$160 and can be found in fine retailers everywhere and online starting mid-June (as in next week for those of us who like to plan our shopping expeditions.)

I might snag a few pieces for my wardrobe this summer (I love the braided cord charm bracelets). Maybe it's time to make a few Little Mermaid-inspired pieces part of your world.

Fashionable Movie List: My Favorite 80's Films for Wardrobe Inspiration

I can admit that when I get a free moment to breathe, I love to wrap up with a good stack of movies and a huge bowl of popcorn (olive oil, cracked black pepper and sea salt mixed with a touch of basil is awe-inspiring.) This Memorial Day weekend got me thinking about some of the films inspired my personal style from my formative years, the 1980's. The following list is a catalog of some of my favorites and they're in no particular order (but they're fabulous):

Xanadu (1980) - A fabulous post-Grease Olivia Newton-John vehicle, this bombed at the box office but I'll never forget begging my mother to get me an off-the-shoulder white dress, braided ribbon headband and ruched boot roller skates. I think I still have those skates somewhere. And I know all the words to all the songs. I stand by this.

Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) - I will never forget the moment my mother and her friend took my friend Patty and me to see this movie after picking us up from school. The minute Madonna appeared on screen, my entire life changed. I immediately became a thrift store addict from watching this movie and every crazy thing she wears is still perfection to this day. She wears men's underwear with a garter belt and hose and it looks positively runway ready. I live for Madonna.

The Lost Boys (1987) - I got suckered into seeing this movie one night by people who knew that I hated horror movies. Little did they realize what a favor they did for me. I became completely obsessed with vampire movies after this and I immediately had to get a leather jacket, a flowing white dress, a wrist full of bohemian bangles and a boy who looked like Jason Patric. I mean, the guy IS a great accessory and he was so cute in this movie.

Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985) and Pretty in Pink (1986) - Who DIDN'T want to be Molly Ringwald as a teenager? I even tried to dye my hair red! From her sweetly-layered tee and sweatshirt from Sixteen Candles to the sweet bomber jacket and those impossibly chic tall leather boots she rocked in Breakfast Club, I still love everything she pretty much ever did. Although, I have to admit that Judd Nelson's bad boy did inspire me to rock out a flannel and button-embellished denim jacket for years. Oh, and per PIP, I also designed and sewed my senior prom dress, which I still have. If you're a Facebook friend, you can see a picture of it.

St. Elmo's Fire (1985) - Another Brat Pack film. Let me make this clear: the character of Jules is one of my favorites of all time. I wanted every single item of clothing that Demi Moore wore in this movie and still do. This character might have been incredibly flawed, but she was one of the original fabulous fashionistas and I remain loyal to her fabulous wardrobe. Everyone else I know wanted Ally Sheedy's prim and stylish wardrobe.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) - Checkered Vans and red bikinis were sold out everywhere and are still favorites to this day. I rest my case.

Less Than Zero (1987) - Jami Gertz was smoking in this movie and I want to point something out here: it takes a lot of edge for an 80's California character to rock that much black and make it look good. The party with all the televisions is still one of my favorite cinematic moments and her outfit at that party is still an inspiration. Added bonus: RDJ. Yum.

U2: Rattle and Hum - U2 has always had a cult following but the obsession with vests and pilgrim hats and ragged denim? Generation X owes most of that to this movie. Bono inspired both sexes with his looks and clothes.

Flashdance (1983) - The off-the-shoulder cut-up sweatshirt? Leg warmers? Hello! Plus, this is where most of us learned how to take off a bra without removing our shirts.

Krush Groove (1985) - Between the Adidas, cool hip hop and breakdancing gear and Sheila E's Prince-inspired looks, this movie was/is chock full of marked fashion moments (and a very cute Blair Underwood). See also: Breakin', Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo and Beat Street.

Valley Girl (1983) - Like, totally, fer sure! The birth of the Mall, the Mall Rat and the fashions? I still love watching this movie, as grody as it seems now. Also, please do enjoy the quite awkward but sweet debut of Nicholas Cage.

There are so many that you can't name them all (and yes, I realize I left out Some Kind of Wonderful - didn't have enough room), but feel free to add to the list. Did I leave anything out? Let me know!

Movie Review: A Guide On How To Watch Sex and the City 2

So, I got a chance to check out Sex and the City 2 last night and it appears that by the time I walked out of the theatre, the critics were already panning the movie. I've been privy to all sorts of commentary about the movie today and I feel like someone should say SOMETHING, so here it goes.

Look, we all know that every woman (and man) had a very personal relationship with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. The show had a cult following for a reason and every single one of us was affected personally by our relationship with these characters. If you'll remember, people had very strong opinions and feelings about the show, the actions of the characters, the plotlines and, of course, the fashion choices while it was on HBO. I've heard people say things like "Carrie would never have done something like that" or "Miranda would never have worn that dress." When the first movie came out, people loved it or hated it BECAUSE of this personal connection. Hence, reactions to the second movie would be no different: people come to the theater with their own ideas of what it should be like, and they either like the ride or they don't.

As someone who enjoyed the movie, here are some things to increase your likelihood of enjoying your experience in the theater:

  • People complained that the first movie was too dark and not as fun as the series. This time, SJP and Michael Patrick King delivered a fun, brightly-colored caper where our girls have a lot of fun, some sex and a rather glamorous time. Expect it to be more lighthearted and funny and you won't be disappointed.
  • You know how sometimes you'll watch a whole season of the show without stopping, maybe six in succession? The movie reads like that. Expect it to feel like watching six episodes of the show instead of the feature film format of the first one and you'll appreciate it more.
  • Aiden is back. Depending on your emotional attachment to this character, you may or may not like it. I would suggest looking at it like going to a party where one of your ex-boyfriends arrives: experience the emotions of him showing up, try not to get emotionally involved, and when you leave the party try to take it for the experience it was and call it a day.
  • You can plan a bathroom trip right after you see the hotel in Abu Dhabi when they're having breakfast. Make it quick. You've got a maximum of five minutes maximum you can spare. Have your friend fill you in.
  • The women are in their 40's, people. There are a couple of wrinkles and plotlines about menopause, marriage, kids, sex and careers appropriate to the age of the characters. It's not like they're in a nursing home, though. If you're about 35 or older, you'll get all the inside jokes about being a little older and wiser. If not, focus on the hot guys and the fabulous shoes. The Zac Posen crenoline paired with the Dior t-shirt that Carrie wears while shopping in the souk should be enough to keep you entertained.
  • Enjoy! Our ladies are back so take any expectations out of it. It's not like the first movie, it might be the last time we get a chance to see our favorite foursome so grab some popcorn and enjoy!

Fashion Fabulous: The New Wardrobe Stars of Sex and the City 2

So, tonight's the night and I'm heading to a sneak preview of Sex and the City 2, courtesy of Coty Prestige and Sarah Jessica Parker's fabulous Carrie Bradshaw-inspired fragrance, SJP NYC. I'll give you some serious scoop on the fragrance and the event tomorrow (and if you want to follow the action tonight from the event, follow me on twitter and/or hashtag #SJPNYC), but as with any fabulous fashion event, I've done my homework and discovered some of the fabulous labels I'll be seeing this evening.

Here are the names that will be on everyone's lips after this weekend thanks to Patricia Field, Molly Rogers, their designer and vintage connections, and a healthy $10 million wardrobe budget:

Jee Vice - This French eyewear company is all over the movie, especially one Ms. Bradshaw. I already have two pairs of the stunners, but you'll see Carrie rock a pair of these fabulous Jee Vice "Heated" Sunglasses in Orange Jubilee ($170).

Charlotte Olympia - this London "It" girl already has a celebrity cult following (Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Anna Paquin are just a few) and her 40's and 50's-inspired footwear is all the rage across the pond, in Hollywood and now on the feet of Ms. Bradshaw. Look for spectacular footwear from the designer, like these Dolly Leather Platform Pumps ($556).

Halston Heritage - With SJP on the creative team, it's no wonder these dresses would wind up front and center in this movie but trust me, when you see them in person, they're FABULOUS. From the V-Neck Jersey Dress ($325) seen on the posters and the first shot of the film to the incredibly glam Metallic-Stripe Dress ($435), the revamp of the legendary design house hasn't seen this much action since they closed Studio 54.

Solange Azagury-Patridge - Ladies who lunch and those of us who are obsessed with fine jewelry know the work of this designing dynamo with an eye for gems and chains that are simply out of this world. That necklace on Carrie on the poster? Hers. A lot of the chains in the movie? Hers. The new "Carrie" necklace in the opening scene is 18ct white gold with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies and fire opals and it costs almost $200,000. Can we say UPGRADE?!?

Low Luv - Another fabulous accessories label, this rocker cool label is a personal favorite of yours truly, especially piece from their collaboration with model-turned-designer Erin Wasson. Look for pieces from the brand to pop up almost everywhere, including this Snake-Hinged Cuff ($245).

The Blonds - As a HUGE fan of this rock-and-roll label, to me they need no introduction. You've seen their work on Rihanna, Katy Perry, Fergie and countless other celebrities and they add a whole new level of drama to the wardrobes of Carrie and Samantha in Abu Dhabi. You know, like Samantha's fabulous red dress with all the spikes you keep seeing everywhere, previously rocked by RiRi?

I'll report back on trends and all sorts of other things tomorrow but go ahead and look up these fabulous designers so you can get a leg up on your friends in the fashion department. The time has come, ladies! Sex and the City 2 is almost here!

Obsession of the Day: Get Your Movie Night On With A Roku Digital Video Player

As someone who is out covering events at least four nights a week minimum and writing every other time (blogs never sleep), I can honestly say that I very rarely have time to watch movies or DVDs, but good luck removing me from my couch when I do. Like all of you, the minute I get a chance to chill out and relax, I completely unplug with whatever has come in from my Netflix queue and catch up on documentaries, comedies and whatever else struck my fancy. Has anyone else had a movie arrive where you wonder how many glasses of wine you had to drink to put that title in your queue? Just me? Fine, be that way.

What if I told you there was a way to view all those "Watch Instantly" movies in your queue right on your television without even having to plug in your laptop? Introduced to me by Robert Verdi last year, I've just hooked up (and am now hooked on) the Roku Digital Video Player, a device that streams your Netflix queue to your tv via your wireless internet. The quality of the programming is just as good as that of a DVD, and it has the same abilities to rewind, fast forward and pause. I just finished plowing through Season Two of Showtime's The Tudors. It was Magic Time.

Best of all? Your Netflix movies that aren't instant watch just keep arriving at your house! It's like a cornucopia of movies and entertainment for your free time. The only thing that would make this situation perfect is if a massage therapist and a nail tech magically pop out and give me spa treatments while I chill out to The September Issue. Maybe throw in a personal chef?

You can also do other things with a Roku player that I'm discovering and loving: play Pandora radio, buy and watch movies from Amazon.com. Your husband/boyfriend might fight you for the remote, though: the player also plays MLB.tv (Major League Baseball, sports fans) and NBA Game Time. If the NFL shows up on this thing in the fall, I might never leave the house again on a Sunday.

Let's be honest here: outside of True Blood and Entourage, summer television is a wasteland. I'm planning on creating my own little summer programming schedule with my Roku player so I'm not completely annoyed. That is, after I clean out my recent crop of movies. Which will take me....well, all summer.

Roku Digital Video Player ($79.99 - $129.99), available via their online store

Hot off the Press: The Sex and the City 2 Extended Movie Trailer

You've seen the movie poster and I think I've shown the first trailer at least twice. The big question has been, "What the plot of the movie?" Well, wait no more! The extended trailer for Sex and the City 2: The Sequel is HERE! Take a break from work and watch this little slice of awesome!

Stylish Viewing: Trailers for The Best in Spring and Summer Movies

I am honestly not someone who goes to the movies a lot, but considering the crop of movies forthcoming this spring and summer, I'm planning on packing a wrap cardigan and a bottle of water to enjoy some fabulous cinematic fare. Here's what's on my viewing list:

Chloe: I'm a HUGE suspense thriller fan and this one looks like it's going to be GOOD. When Julianne Moore suspects her husband (Liam Neeson) of cheating on her, she hires call girl Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) to see if her husband will take the bait. Evidently not only does he take said bait, but the two women also become romantically involved. Evidently everyone is in too deep when they discover Chloe is definitely not what she seems. It's already in theaters so this is what I'll be doing next weekend.

Iron Man 2: My love for Robert Downey Jr. is lifelong and shows no signs of stopping so I'll probably be the one standing in line for the midnight premiere of this one. Looks like Tony Stark is back and this time Samuel L. Jackson joins the fun as Nick Fury, Tony Stark's cigar-chomping SHIELD buddy. RDJ's got his hands full this time with two villains, played by Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson. Gwyneth Paltrow plays Tony's beloved Pepper Potts again. Get your popcorn ready for this gem coming May 7th.

Sex and the City 2: I've already been posting about this one so I won't belabor the point. Just know that my ladies and I will be in fabulous footwear when Carrie Bradshaw and company come back to the big screen in May. Rumor has it that Aidan (John Corbett) makes a cameo in the movie. Keep it tuned for future updates.

The A-Team: I'm a huge action movie fanatic and this was one of my all-time favorite shows growing up. A elite commando unit is sent to prison for a crime they didn't commit. They break out and become a rogue team that fights crime and injustice off the grid. Liam Neeson plays Hannibal and I have two more words that should seal everyone's desire to see it: Bradley Cooper. In theaters June 10th.

Salt: Angelina Jolie is back to her butt-kicking best as an agent who is accused of being a Russian spy in a plot to assassinate the President. Liam Neeson co-stars but I always look forward to Hollywood's most controversial star getting her proverbial kicks on camera. Coming July 10th.

Inception: All I can say is "Wow." The follow up to The Dark Night by brilliant director Christopher Nolan, this movie boasts an all-star cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Cillian Murphy. The plot has been kept tightly under wraps but with the underground buzz is that this is the movie to beat this summer. The release date has yet to be set but you know where I'll be once it's announced. Check the website link for the full-length trailer and more details.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps: My excitement for this knows no bounds. I own the Director's Cut of the original movie from Oliver Stone and it appears that everyone's favorite greedy bastard, Gordon Gekko (played to perfection by Michael Douglas) is out of prison and looking to get back on top via his sharp potential son-in-law Jake (Shia LeBoeuf). Also starring LeBoeuf's real-life girlfriend Carey Mulligan, Josh Brolin, and Frank Langella, Stone's timing in bringing back Wall Street's favorite role model is truly genius and I can't wait to see what he does with the script. Mark your calendars for September 24th.

Happy screening, everyone!

Style Points: The Badass Anti-Valentine's Day Chick Flick Movie Festival

Before we begin, let’s make sure that we understand my standpoint on Valentine’s Day. I am neutral when it comes to this holiday. I could care less about whether or not I find someone to mac on before the end of Valentine’s night. My standpoint on Valentine’s Day is that it’s kind of like the observance of another religion’s holidays: feel free to participate or just go on about your business as best you can.

But let’s say that this year, you're just not feeling the red dress thing. You don’t have a sweetheart and you’re contemplating small acts of sabotage on all the women in your office who will be getting flowers the Friday before. What’s one to do when you’re inundated with ads for romantic movies and dinners for two?

Bitter and Jaded, your table is now available because I’ve got the best solution EVER for your anti-Valentine’s Day Celebration. It’s called the Anti-Valentine's Badass Chick Flick Festival and it’s guaranteed to lift your spirits. Chock full of female action heros and good-mood-inspiring maladjusted behavior, it’ll raise your spirits. Throw away that Whitman’s sampler and sink your teeth into these goodies:

The Last Seduction: Linda Fiorentino is basically one of the baddest chicks EVER TO WALK THE EARTH in this fabulous film. Stuck in a bad marriage with a crooked Bill Pullman, she embezzles money from her criminal husband, takes off for parts unknown and proceeds to wreak havoc on a small town. She also turns Peter Berg into her personal sex slave. It’s inspiring and genius, folks.

The Long Kiss Goodnight: Geena Davis at her quirky best, she plays a soccer mom who starts to recover a memory of a life where she was, hello, a black ops operative spy! Samuel L. Jackson and Craig Bierko add colorful characters but it’s Davis’ show and she throws down some purely James Bond-level whoopass in this movie. So much fun.

Black Widow: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Debra Winger plays a CIA desk jockey who starts an obsession with the mysterious deaths of wealthy men. The common thread? They were all married to what appears to be the same woman. This cat-and-mouse game culminates with a great ending and Theresa Russell is amazing at the cause of Winger’s obsession.

Diabolique: Two women, a wife and a mistress, murder their shared love/hate interest and everything's fine until a detective comes snooping around (men..ugh). For those with a desire for foreign film, this is a must-watch movie.

Basic Instinct: Yes, it’s campy and yes, it’s kind of dated but really, what kind of warm fuzzies are you going to get from a sociopathic woman who plots out ritualistic murders in her novels and then acts them out in real life? The part that basically made Sharon Stone who she is today, it’s got sex, drugs and an ice pick.

Heathers: Classic Winona Ryder and co-starring my all-time first crush, Christian Slater, a teenage girl falls for the wrong guy in this movie and people start to die. Some of the best lines ever uttered in any teen movie, including “My teen angst now has a body count” and “Heather, my love, there’s a new sheriff in town.”

Kill Bill, Vol.1 and 2: My final selection, Uma Thurman plays “The Bride”, a woman who awakes from a coma to remember that her assassin past followed her to her wedding day and killed everyone she loved. Determined to murder her entire posse one by one, the movie follows her warpath as she murders her way to her final goal of killing Bill, the ringleader. Quentin Tarantino at his best, it’s violent, brilliantly done and with some of the best dialog ever written.

I suggest heavily-buttered popcorn with these selections, along with a good dry Chardonnay (better get a few bottles) and mind-blowing cheese and charcuterie platter. Invite your girls (and guys) and settle in for the most kick-ass movie festival since Kurasawa made mad films.

Of course, I just adore suggestions. Any others you'd like to add to the list? Let me know in the comments section below.

Beauty Must-Have: Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows

I don’t know about you, but I am beside myself waiting for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland to hit theatres. From the previews, it looks like Burton will put his incredible imagination behind the age-old tale in a way that would even surprise Lewis Carroll. I love whimsy and magic.

Speaking of whimsy and magic, we also know that I’m a fan of the genius beauty brand Urban Decay and when a little sample of the gorgeous Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows inspired by the forthcoming film arrived recently, I basically gasped with joy. Urban Decay’s done it again, with a pop-up detail that reveals the scene where Alice first walks through the mushroom forest, discarded “Drink Me” bottle cast aside as she’s stares on with wonder under the watchful eye of a hookah-smoking caterpillar. This is all in front of the mirror. Talk about presentation.

Open the secret drawer and you’re treated to no less than 16 of Urban Decay’s best-selling shadows with themed names like “White Rabbit” and “Jabberwocky.” Along with this treasure trove of shadows are small version of their Eyeshadow Primer Potion and two coordinating 24/7 Liner Pencils. If I was trying to figure out what to do for makeup during Fashion Week, this would be it.

This is a must for the beauty loving movie buff. Put your name on the wait list and be one of the first to get your hands on one today.

Twilight Style: Jewelry for Team Edward and Team Jacob from Demitasse

So by now most of us have seen the second installment of the uber-successful Twilight series. I imagine this is the case because of the Team Edward-Team Jacob fights that have almost erupted in a "let's-take-it-outside" style in my workplace but how do you show your allegiance without getting arrested? How about infuse a little Twilight: New Moon style into your wardrobe with jewelry inspired by your favorite characters from the fabulous Demitasse Jewelry?

These gorgeous pieces are inspired by scenes from the blockbuster book and film series and are absolutely gorgeous.  The DemiFang necklace on a 30" chain retails for just $38 and this tres cool (or ghoul?) DemiBullet necklace retails for $68. If you're feeling extra vampire/werewolf chic, this stunning Rosary necklace goes for $110.

Demitasse sells via their website, so go check out the Vampire collection and more of their amazing styles. Hello? Holiday gifts for your favorite Twilight fanatic? Problem solved!

It does matter if you're Team Jacob or Team Edward. Just look stunning while you're pleading your case and there'll be no question which side of the argument is the best dressed.

60 Second Fitness Tip: The Netflix Gym

As some of us are too busy to live, we always complain there's no time to go to the gym. Between busy schedules, long hours, kids, boyfriends and other commitments, the very thought of packing a gym bag, heading to a gym or yoga studio to work out and then getting back again is exhausting. So, we blow it off and our backsides continue to take on extra lbs.

I've recently discovered a cure for all of these excuses and a few more: Netflix. Yes, you read that correctly. I just filled my queue with a TON of workout DVDs and I do them during my "lunch hour" or crack of dawn early in my apartment. This alleviates almost all of my issues: I can't get bored because a brand new workout shows up in my mailbox every other day (or some have the "Watch Instantly" option where you can view them on a computer or hook it up to your TV), I can shower and get ready in the privacy of my own home and I can try just about any workout I want. If you have a Netflix account, I presume this means you carve out time to watch a movie. How about taking 45 minutes to do a workout video, then collapse on the floor and do crunches during a real movie?

If you don't have a Netflix account, it's really the smartest way to rent movies and if you use this fitness tip it's seriously a mere fraction of the cost of a gym membership. There are thousands of videos to choose from, so kick up your workout routine with my new favorite workout location: the Netflix gym!

FSB Recap: Anna Wintour on Late Night with David Letterman

Anna Wintour visits The David Letterman Show in NYC
Photo Credit: Richie Buxo / Splash News

Did you happen to catch Late Night with David Letterman last night? In case you missed it, Vogue EIC Anna Wintour was Dave's first guest as part of her press tour to promote The September Issue. Dave threw his normal kidding jokes at Anna about her legendary "ice queen" reputation and not only did the legendary editrix hold her own against the talk show host, she was actually funny! She was engaging, humorous and quite likable. Here's Anna (in Carolina Herrera, not Prada, btw) in a segment from last night's interview. Well done, Anna!

FSB On The Scene: Private Screening of "The September Issue"

Last night I attended a fantastic private screening of the long-awaited fashion and publishing documentary, The September Issue, a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Vogue's September 2007, which, when published, was the largest magazine issue ever released. The event was held at the super sleek Bryant Park Hotel (where most of us live and breathe during Fashion Week) in their private screening room and the well-dressed crowd included online media and a fun celebrity spotting: Jeff Lewis and Jenni Pulos from Bravo's Flipping Out were there as well!

The evening began with a quick Q&A with the film's director, RJ Cutler, and then the lights went down. You notice unlike most posts, there are no photos from the event. That's because this movie is under such tight wraps to protect it from piracy that there was no flash photography or video allowed inside. This is fine because this is a movie that is truly best viewed on a big screen, popcorn in hand and surrounded by your favorite fashion-mad friends. There's drama, intrigue, fashion, squabbles with photographers and a copious amount of behind-the-scenes access of Anna Wintour's life that has never been allowed on camera before. The movie has drama, comedy (Grace Coddington is truly hilarious on camera) and jaw-dropping footage of what it takes to make such a film. There's even footage of the editing of the cover, where they try to figure if the neck of one shot works better with the head of another (Vogue airbrushing at work). I'm quite the connoisseur of fashion documentaries and I must say that when I left the screening, I was extremely satisfied. If you've not seen the trailer, you can watch it here:

I don't want to give too much away but I must highly recommend you see this film. The film will be playing in limited release on five or so screens here in New York on August 28th, then on September 11th it will open in wide release in Los Angeles and other cities. You've heard the hype and I'm here to say that it's well-earned: go see this movie!

FSB Morning Juice - Anne Hathaway, R.I.P. Mike and Chris, Tiffany's and Conde Nast Musical Chairs

Morning! We’re up, rooibos tea in hand, ready to get this party started. Here are the headlines for this morning:

The Devil Does Jazz Hands: Anne Hathaway is set to star in a biopic about the late, great Judy Garland. Wonder if the ruby slippers will be Prada? (Philly.com)

Retailer R.I.P.: Fabulous leather line Mike and Chris is no more. Somewhere, the Gossip Girl cast is probably crying. (eye4style)

A Lipstick Stimulus Package? In a sure sign of rough economic times, beauty sales were down 3 percent in 2008. Remember that old adage that even in the worst times a woman will still want to buy lipstick? Sounds like those days might be over. (WWD)

No More Breakfast at Tiffany's?: Tiffany and Co. reported extremely disappointing numbers in 2008, with a near disastrous net income drop of 76 percent with total sales dropping 20 percent worldwide in the fourth quarter alone. Evidently, in this economy those who had the "Return to Tiffany’s" items actually did just that. (Luxist)

Conde Nast Musical Chairs: Ingrid Sichy and Sandra Brant are now the new Editors-In-Chief of German Vogue and Russian Vogue, respectively. Carine Roitfeld remains fabulously at the helm of French Vogue and Anna Wintour is still firmly entrenched at American Vogue, so in our eyes all is right with the world. (Fashion Week Daily)

FSB Quote of the Day: “Dress stylishly and you notice the dress. Dress impeccably and you notice the woman.” – Coco Chanel

FSB Morning Juice: Vogue, more Vogue, Clive Owen and CFDA Awards

Morning, everyone! We’re working from the satellite office this morning, pondering all things Vogue magazine while our tea cools.

Cover Trends: Have you seen the new cover of Vogue, btw? Beyonce is on the cover, looking gorgeous as per usual. Interesting note: this makes two African-American women in a row on the cover of the legendary magazine. Coincidence? (The Cut)

We Heart Carine Roitfeld: Speaking of Vogue, Carine Roitfeld is denying rumors of taking the helm from Anna Wintour again, saying, "I'm very happy at French Vogue to be able to do everything -- almost everything -- I want in the magazine. It would be too political at American Vogue for me. And I'm not sure I'm talking enough good English to work there." While Carine was charming as usual, the CNN writer mentioned Anna’s age in the article. We’re sure this will be handled accordingly. Be sure to check out Carine on CNN: Revealed tomorrow. (CNN)

Daily Male Call: Clive Owen was dressed by Giorgio Armani and two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Albert in his forthcoming romantic spy picture, Duplicity, out March 20th. Take a moment to reflect on that: Clive Owen in Armani. Le mew, le purrrr…Oh yeah, and Julia Roberts co-stars. (PeopleStyleWatch)

And the CFDA Goes To: CFDA nominees were announced. Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Rodarte are all nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year.
