Celebrity Hair Moment: Paula Patton

Avon Foundation Celebrates "Champions Who Change Women's Lives" - Arrivals
Larry Busacca/Getty Images

How much luckier can one girl get than Paula Patton? Talented actress? Check. Married to Robin Thicke? Check. Sweepstakes winner in the genetic lottery? Triple check. Well, even if you're not lucky enough to be Paula Patton, you can work this stunning hairstyle she sported at the Avon Foundation's 'Champions Who Change Women's Lives' celebration at Cipriani 42nd Street recently in New York City.

Celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen (she who famously gave Rihanna her signature hairstyle) is working with Motions and she created Paula's look for $15! Here's how to get the look from the stylist herself:
  1. Apply Motions Light Styling Foam, focusing on the roots
  2. Blow dry hair in an upwards motion to add volume
  3. Spray Motions Light Hold Working Spritz throughout hair. Using a medium-sized barrel iron, curl small sections of hair, securing curls with hair pins. After hair has cooled, remove pins and comb through with a wide-toothed comb
  4. Using fingers, gently sweep hair behind ears and create a soft side part, teasing the crown if necessary
  5. Finish with Motions Oil Sheen & Conditioning Spray for a long-lasting look
Hey, maybe this look will get you someone as sexy as Robin Thicke. At the very least, you'll steal a little of Paula's chic celebrity style and that will take you miles at your next function. Head to your local Motions retailer and give this look a go. Love it!

Evening Glamour: Announcing Timeless by Naeem Khan for HSN, Available Now!

I recently attended the sneak preview and launch party for Timeless by Naeem Khan, a line that the legendary designer has created exclusively for HSN. Created alongside his red-carpet designs, these amazing designs are available starting right now on HSN (and if you're near a television, the legendary designer is on right now). It's one thing to see how amazing the designer's work can be via HSN but let me show you how impeccable these pieces are up close and personal.

All of these amazing dresses are available via HSN and every piece of Naeem's work is couture-quality. These are collectors pieces that are meant to last.

This top is spectacular in person. I will be purchasing it (item number 543-796, btw). This is an amazing investment piece that will look amazing for years to come.

This solid sequin v-neck dress is unbelievable and is very figure flattering.

This Leopard Motif Boat Neck Dress is unbelievable in person and a genius statement piece that will last for years.

The designer (center) with his wife, accessories designer Ranjana Khan (left) and me at the HSN premiere party.

The designer and his wife couldn't have been more accommodating, sharing his design philosophy with guests. It's rare to be able to get couture quality at such an amazing price. Turn to HSN right this minute or head to the HSN website and get in on this limited, special collection from legendary designer Naeem Khan.

Celebrity Style Moment: Rocker Chic with Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Charlize Theron

Avon Foundation Celebrates "Champions Who Change Women's Lives" - Arrivals
Larry Busacca/Getty Images

I've got three celebrity style moments that I'm loving today. Let's check them out, shall we? First up, snaps for Reese Witherspoon, in a gorgeous Narciso Rodriguez confection topped with patent leather from last night's Avon Foundation for Women benefit gala in New York City. I like Reese's edgier takes on classic silhouettes. It shows that she's exploring her fashion sense while remaining true to what she knows looks good on her.

Jennifer Lopez at Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT Premiere in LA
Jennifer Lopez Fame Pictures, Inc

Next up is Jennifer Lopez wearing a rocker fabulous bandage dress and tall black leather boots, all by Herve Leger by Max Azria at last night's premiere of the Michael Jackson documentary, This is It. La Lopez is playing with a rocker chic mood and I'm the fact that Jenny's new block appears to be more Sunset Boulevard now. Love the boots, love the dress, love the makeup. Love it.

13th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala
Red Carpet Pictures

Last but not least, the ever-stunning Charlize Theron wows us yet again in a strapless top and leather skirt by The Row at yesterday's 13th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. What makes this stand out (outside of the fact that, you know, one of the hottest women in the world is wearing it) is that pop of color provided courtesy of that fabulous Bottega Veneta clutch. This outfit is simple but sexy and, like Reese, a edgy play on a classic silhouette.

Love it, ladies. Keep shutting it down!

Contest Alert: Hypnotize Lancome With Your Fashion Sense

Have you ever thought about what it might be like to be a fashion or beauty editor, a stylist or a buyer for a prestigious store or boutique? Well, you can get the feeling via one of my favorite sites, Polyvore, a fun, fashionable (and highly addictive, I warn you) site that lets you create looks and layouts until your heart's content. You can play Creative Director and Fashion Editor all at once by creating you own layouts called “sets," complete with products and images from the web, then publish them for all the world to see.

Lancome wants to give you a chance to explore your inner editor/creative director with a little contest. They've partnered with Polyvore for Hypnotize Lancôme with Your Fashion Sense, and the prizes are really pretty sweet. Celebrating the launch of their sexy new fragrance, Hypnôse Senses, you create a layout that best illustrates your own sense of style and Lancome spokemodel Daria Werbowy will pick the winner. What do you win? How about a $250 lancome-usa.com gift card and a bottle of Hypnôse Senses, signed by the spokesmodel herself? Five runners-up will each win $100 gift cards plus a bottle of Hypnôse Senses.

Want to see if you've got the goods to enjoy the sweet smell of success? Then head to Polyvore right now and enter to win! Good luck!

Editor's Pick: Take a Walk On The Plus Side

Kimberly Williamson/Courtesy of StyleIt

My friend Sarah Conley, the EIC of StyleIt, is doing something rather extraordinary and I believe it's worth noting. As a fabulous plus-sized woman with incredible style, she's decided to document her fabulous fashion and makeup picks as part of a new series called On The Plus Side: Look Of the Day. The photos are gorgeous (as you can see above) and the fashion picks are quite good but the point is that she's decided not to crop the shots in any way. These are full-body photographs that make a statement that cannot be ignored: she is there in all her glory and she's asking women no matter what your size to celebrate your body and your sense of style.

I might be slightly biased because she's my friend, but I have to mark the moment and encourage everyone to subscribe to these posts. The essence of true fashion, style and beauty begins with the individual accepting themselves as a FACT. Right this minute, you have the healthy, beautiful body you have been given and you should celebrate and adorn it accordingly. No more waiting until you lose that weight or you get that job or that guy/girl shows up to let your true style emerge. Follow Sarah's inspiring posts and hopefully it will inspire you to realize that we are all stunning, we are all beautiful and, like Sarah, we all have incredible style.

Stylish Book Review: Fierce Style by Christian Siriano

Book cover courtesy of Hachette Book Group, Inc.

A few weeks ago in the midst of moving, a little package arrived at my new place with a book inside. It was Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self by pint-sized fashion and style dynamo Christian Siriano. You're familiar with Christian, I'm sure: winner of Project Runway, fashion darling, Payless accessories line and guest appearances on Ugly Betty. You'd think it was a book on being famous but no, although there are mentions of Siriano's success in the book. Actually, it's a cute, cheeky view of the world from Siriano's lens; a guide on how to look, feel and live your most fabulous life.

I know you're thinking he's in his twenties so what does he really know about life, and I offer that having read the book cover to cover (with a time lapse in between to grapple with the flu), there's something in there for both the young and the old(er). Siriano's philosophies on style, shopping, design and personal attitude/determination (which is really the most endearing section and a great read) are paired with heartfelt stories of his own disappointments and triumphs both personal and professional and it's really quite inspiring. It also comes with a glossary of terms because the book is peppered with his favorite euphemisms such as "ferocia coutura" and "tick tack toe" (you need to read the book to see what I'm talking about.) With inset quotes from Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton, Whoopi Goldberg and Siriano's Runway mentor Tim Gunn, it's a quick-but-fun read that will make you smile and also give you some a little bit of insight into the design dynamo's view on the world...and it's really fun!

A great gift for anyone just beginning to discover themselves and/or their own style, Fierce Style is a fun, fabulous read for the subway or for a great weekend wrapped on the couch with Project Runway re-runs. Recommended!

Celebrity Style Moment: Taylor Momsen in Torn by Ronny Kobo

Sephora 5 Times Square Store Opening
Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images

First of all, I love Taylor Momsen. She's like the second coming of Debbie Harry and I'm digging it.

This outfit was actually worn in July at the opening of the Sephora 5 Times Square (which was fabulous) but the outfit needs reporting because the look is very of-the-season: this gorgeous Torn by Ronny Kobo plaid draped tee is chic, edgy and only $90! How many different ways could you rock this look? Wear it as a dress like Taylor, with black skinnies or leggings, thigh-high boots....there are so many ways to wear this fabulous piece you'll more than get your wear out of it.

You can pick up this little piece of wardrobe magic from the fabulous LA retailer, Harmony Lane, online or in-store. Whether you wear it casual or you rock it glam style like Taylor, you've got to get this hot top. It's sure to make you the center of all the gossip, girl.

Editor's Lust List: YSL Sale, Nicole Richie's Hat and More

I'm curled up on the couch with a whole DVR full of Rachel Zoe Project and trying to shake this horrible cold, but that doesn't mean that I don't have my eye on some fabulous style items while I'm bedridden. Here's what's on the Lust List right now:

As reported by my friend Nola at GlamChic, the Yves Saint Laurent Friends and Family Sale is the main reason for my recovery right now (in addition to a FULL schedule of events next week.) Mark your calendars, ladies: October 28th - October 30th from 8 am - 8 pm (8 am - 2 pm on the 30th) at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, 4th Floor) here in Manhattan, bags, shoes and apparel will be available for up to 80% of retail. Cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express accepted. No Checks. All sales are final. If I elbow you in the face trying to snag a Downtown Tote, I mean it with nothing but love.

Joel Madden tries to divert the attention away from a make-up free Nicole Richie with a garish blazer

I'm a fan of all things Nicole Richie and I've been in love with her black fedora for quite some time. A fashionable little bird just spied the gorgeous chapeau and snagged one for herself. It's the Alexander McQueen Homburg Hat ($580) and I'm going to have to get one for myself. Love menswear touches on a girlie girl.

Since I'm curled up in my sweats right now but I still have to answer the door, I have to make sure that they're fabulous and fashion-forward. I cannot say enough about my all-time favorites, introduced to me by uber fashion maven Karen Robinovitz: the Young, Fabulous & Broke Zen Pant ($119). Running errands, yoga or hanging around is just way more lovely when you can do it in style. Get them from one of my online favorites, Shopbop.

By the way, speaking of comfort, how many t-shirts do you have that you simply need to throw away? Well, maybe they just need a makeover. I'm playing around with this book, Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt by Megan Nicolay ($10.37 via Amazon.com) and I'm coming up with all sorts of new and fabulous designs. Can you imagine a whole new wardrobe of tops for free? It's genius, really. I'm working on transforming a beer pong t-shirt into a fabulous little Flashdance number. I'll keep you posted.

I'm going back to bed. Have a fabulous weekend, my lovelies. See you bright and (hopefully) healthy on Monday!

Bedridden Beauty Rituals: Products That Make You Feel Better When You're Sick

Ugh. I'm sick.

I'm a firm believer that when you're not feeling well, it's a good time to curl up in your favorite sweats, draw the curtains and ride it out until you're ready to face the world again and the last thing you want to think about is what you look like. Don't let the word "beauty" in this post throw you off: there's nothing beautiful about being sick. However, there are beauty products out there that can help you feel better and recover from a bout with whatever illness you're facing.

A hot shower will make you feel a million times better and Shower Soothers ($4.99) are where it's at. Throw it under hot running shower water and it releases eucalyptus to help clear out a stuffy head. If you've got chest congestion, it's heaven on a stick.

If you're more of a bubble bath person, the Lush Aura Suavis Bubble Bar ($6.45) is really amazing. It contains clary sage, geranium, spearmint and coriander, which creates a bath that will soothe your cold and help clear your head.

I'm a big fan of facials and one of the best things you can do is put your head over a steaming hot bowl of water filled with essential oils when you're sick. You can clear your head AND make your complexion a little more presentable when FedEx brings all the stuff you've been ordering off HSN while you've been bedbound. Throw a few drops of Now Eucalyptus Oil ($7.99) into boiling hot water, pour it into a bowl and then throw a towel over your head as you inhale the steam for about five minutes.

Oh, and the best thing you can do for yourself? I don't care how sick you are, use moisturizer. Your skin takes a beating when you're sick because you're sweating and dehydrated. This Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Skin Energy Hydration Delivery System ($35) is a spray that delivers amazing portions of botanical moisture any time. Keep it next to the tissues and use it often (and not just when you're sick.)

I'm going back to bed but rest assured, these time-tested rituals will have me bouncing back in no time. If you're not feeling well, give these beauty products a shot and see how quickly they'll cure whatever ails you.

Jewelry Obsession: More Magic from Robyn Rhodes Jewelry

You remember I was telling you about the amazing Robyn Rhodes, she of the amazing jewelry as seen on Entourage (and the amazing Dana necklace seen above)? Well, I was just chatting with the celebrity jewelry designer (and huge favorite of FSB) and she's got some new pieces that you need to know about. Oh, and by the way, you know that November 2009 InStyle that's sitting on your coffee table? Yep, she's in there. Here are some fabulous pieces you'll want to check out for your own wardrobe.

This Sophia necklace is a stunning design, a mixture of heavy chains and delicate stones that is bound to transform your wardrobe.

If you need a fabulous pair of earrings that will add some a touch of bohemian glamour to your wardrobe, these Maggie earrings are gorgeous (they kind of remind me of bejeweled dreamcatchers) and these stunning Christiana earrings are so elegant, they're bound to become a wardrobe staple.

The gorgeous Robbie ring (available in multiple stones, as seen above) has been seen on Entourage and will be featured in the November InStyle magazine! I love a good ring. It makes almost any outfit just a little more chic.

Last but not least, I kind of blushing but really excited that there's a cool new addition to the collection. It's the gorgeous Kristin necklace and it's about to be a staple of my own wardrobe (and yes, I humbly admit that it was named after me.) No, I didn't know about it. No, I'm not doing the post just because she did it but yes, I'm completely honored and thrilled!

Planning some holiday purchases or just need something to make your jewelry box a little more glamorous? I think a piece of Robyn Rhodes jewelry might do the trick.

Make Halloween More "Boo"-tiful with M·A·C Cosmetics

Thinking about getting your glam on for Halloween? Well then, you need to consult the experts. When it comes to par excellence makeup, I tend to go straight to the experts and for me, that's M·A·C Cosmetics. Want some amazing ideas for fright night or to let your inner artist out? Here's a little inspiration from the leading makeup brand to get you in the right mood:

Celebrity Style Moment: Katie Holmes in Azzedine Alaia

16th Women in Hollywood Tribute

Today's style moment is a poll for your FSB readers. Here we have Katie Holmes, wife of Tom Cruise, mother of budding Style Icon Suri Cruise, marathon runner and quite the fashion fan. Katie was seen last night in this Azzedine Alaia sheer black t-shirt and ruffle-trimmed skirt, Givenchy pumps and Hermes bag. I think it's lovely but just a question: where are her accessories? No earrings, no necklace, nothing but her wedding ring (which is spectacular, don't get me wrong)? I mean, I've heard of take one thing off before you leave the house but don't take EVERYTHING off.

Would love to hear from you: is this chic or shabby? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section.

Get a Handle on Snacking This Cocktail Season: Carry a Clutch.

Photo: AMC

It's almost that time of year: holiday season. The time of year where the number of invitations to parties double, the pressure to get into that skinny, slinky dress is higher than ever and there are hundreds of temptations at every turn, from cocktails to passed appetizers. How do you keep your girlish figure through the gauntlet through the holidays?

First tip: eat before you go. I don't care if that means stuffing a bag of raw almonds in your handbag or keeping a banana at your desk. If you walk into a party famished, you will want to eat everything in sight. The other trick fashion folks use? Carry a clutch! You don't even have to carry it in your hand: keep the clutch under one arm and keep your drink in the hand of that arm. This leaves your other arm free to shake hands and socialize but there's no room for a plate full of goodies. Passing trays work the same way: if you only have one hand, whatever it is needs to go into your mouth immediately and you'll eat less. Trust me, it works every time.

Everyone needs a great, fabulous clutch for evening and this season the options are better than ever. Here are some of my favorite picks:

This Coach Poppy Zip Clutch is gorgeous. Because it's Coach you know the quality is impeccable and it's fabulously priced at $78.

This Tory Burch Logo Clutch ($295) is a great classic and a pop of color that will work with all seasons. Plus, c'mon, it's Tory Burch. Love.

I love this Foley + Corinna Washed Leather Fold Over Clutch ($390) which can easily go from day-to-night by using the top handle feature. Plus, it's leather so it will last you a lifetime if you treat it properly.

Of course, if we're talking dream sequences here and you want to inspire murderous envy in every woman in the room, then I would highly recommend this Carlos Falchi Jeweled Python Clutch ($910).

Keep your hands busy while looking fabulous? Sounds like the chicest weight loss strategy ever to me. Give it a try this holiday season or just out for your next party and you'll see exactly how fabulous this little weight-management tool can really be!
