FSB On the Scene: Sam Edelman Fall Collection Launch at Bloomingdales

There are very few events that can pull a girl away from Fashion Week, but when I was invited to attend the launch of Sam Edelman's fall collection at Bloomingdales Soho, I went (it's shoes, people...a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do). The designer himself made an appearance and the fans were lined around the store. One woman arrived hours early just to get a seat and wait for him to sign a pair of her shoes she's had for years and, of course, he was gracious enough to oblige.

Sam was generous enough to speak to me for a few moments about the fall collection. Inspired by 60's folk singer Mary Travers from Peter, Paul and Mary, Sam was inspired by her free spirit and America's never-ending love affair with true blue denim. The fall collection includes rugged boots and more refined flats that are made for the All-American woman and her eclectic wardrobe. The shoes are made from gorgeous leathers and interesting texture details, like studding and buckles. The collection is easy, fun and works well with just about anything in your wardrobe.

When I asked Sam about his personal picks for your wardrobe, he recommended the following:

Jackson Tall Boot ($198.95) - a tall and versatile boot, fold the top over for a cuffed casual appeal or straighten the boot up for a more refined look. Wear it with skirts, tuck skinny jeans or leggings into them, pair them with tights - it's like five boots in one.

Nelle Tall Boot ($299.95) - a more rugged boot with plenty of urban appeal, this gorgeous studded boot works well for day or night and can look equally at home with denim and knits as it would with a solid color dress and tights.

Lara Suede Mid-Calf Boots ($225) - his take on the cowboy boot, this refined-but-rustic boot will work with virtually anything come fall. Unleash your urban cowgirl by wearing with leggings or denim.

Simone Suede Boots ($110) - this bootie (or "shootie", according to Rachel Zoe) is a carry-over from last season and will work with virtually anything in your wardrobe. Pair with dresses, pants, skirts, tights, denim - whatever you'd like. Give your pumps a break with this genius little item.

Head on over to your nearest department store and get your hands on these and other Sam Edelman styles. I can't wait to get my hands on all of these amazing boots. These styles, and meeting Sam, helped me fall in love with fall.
