Fashion Lab: Yes, You Can Wear A Romper

In the spirit of full disclosure, I used to hate rompers and jumpsuits as a child. I used to hate having to wear anything that required me to get almost fully undressed in a public restroom to use the facilities. Ever since that time, my opinion on the fashion-forward pieces has soften to a love of the fun little items and now I'm a big fan. The weather is getting warmer and nothing makes for a faster, cuter look that a romper with the right accessories (it's like a dress with shorts - instant outfit.) For those of you already rocking the look, these options below might inspire you to pick up a few more pieces. If you're one of those who are slightly nervous about adding a romper, here are some suggestions based on your figure:

Busty/Larger Chest = I would avoid strapless rompers and go for those with straps or short sleeves to avoid fear of slippage
Petite/Short = Make sure that the length goes no longer than mid-thigh and go for spaghetti straps to give the illusion of height. I'd also suggest pairing with wedges or espadrilles to give a long-legged look
Curvier thighs = Get a looser short so you don't have that weird sensation that they're pulling up between your legs
Wider middle = Go for ones that are a tad tailored for a chic and streamlined look. Also, if they have skinny waist ties, cut them off and add your own cool (read: normal to wide) belt to the look for a defined waist

Here are some selections you might want to try:

Ella Moss "Zanzibar" Romper ($132) - Great for day or night. Love the flirty ruffles at the bustline. I'd love to see this with strappy sandals and a dazzling evening necklace for evening or simple thong sandals and a cross body bag for day.

Gap Chambray Romper ($59.50) - Perfectly casual on its own, add a shrunken or boyfriend blazer for chic appeal. It also go up to an XXL, which is fabulous for curvy ladies.

AKA New York Floral Romper ($318) - Those of you who are into florals (and even some of us who are dipping our toes into such waters) will love this pretty romantic romper. The print isn't too busy and the vivid colors are just stunning.

There are so many options to choose from: silk, strapless, ruffled, florals, printed, solid. However you decide to rock the look, make it your own with some fun accessories. It's spring, ladies. Time to come out and play.
