New York Fashion Week: Vera Wang Fall 2010

The Scene: Romantic atmosphere, soothing music, and a backdrop resembling some kind of ice cloud angel feather thing. Somehow it made sense.

Overheard In The Crowd: A PR rep asking a little girl to wake up after she had fallen asleep behind the seats. Guess she wasn't too impressed that Anna Wintour showed up.

The Collection:
The show was officially called 'The Bride Wore Black', which made me kind of love it even before I saw any clothes. The palette was predominantly black (shocker), with heavily embellished frocks, slouchy trousers fitted and flared at the ankles, and a notable sheer-sleeved jacket. The mixing of mesh, tulle, beadwork, and sequins made the pieces look lush, extravagant, and almost rebellious.

Trend Spotting: layers of pearls, elbow-length leather gloves, more fur.

Overall Impression:
The collection was decadence with a dark side. Forget white - if I were to wed, I would wed in one of these.
