Before The Show: Craziness. The little Project Runway-er that could can certainly draw a crowd. Even the seated ones (me, thank goodness as my feet were starting to rebel against my heels) had to wait amidst a beyond antsy mob outside The Promenade.
Overheard In The Crowd: Nothing too amazing, except a guy from Payless telling me that the shoes for the show almost didn't make it. Yikes.
The Collection: According to Siriano, his inspiration came from Parisian women of the 1960s who actually cared about what they looked like before walking out the door. Not American slobs who throw on pajama bottoms and UGGs to grab coffee. His vision was apparent in black and metallic pencil skirts, demure fitted coats, tailored jackets, and overall waist definition. Details were finely tuned and exciting - including pairs of sparkly sunglasses that somehow worked. Near the end, Siriano showcased colorful frocks with flowing ruffles - eerily similar to Leanne Marshall's petal collection.
Trend Spotting: Black mixed with blue (very French), ruffles, Payless shoes - yes, they're now trendy.
Overall Impression: The collection was coherent and stuck to the vision the designer was aiming for. I could have done without the ruffles on some of the dresses, but what's a Siriano show without borderline obnoxious volume?
