The Scene: Run of the mill, except I was seated next to a very small child with a very small purse. It was actually pretty adorable.
Overheard In The Crowd: "Is there still a warrant out for your arrest?" Um, what?

The Collection: Nanette Lepore is not my personal aesthetic, but she definitely has created a niche for herself with distinctly Nanette-esque pieces. This time, the designer focused mostly on a mixture of rust-colored tweeds paired with softly patterned separates - mostly in deep magenta. Instead of the slim secretary fit, the clothes were blousy and slouchy, with belts mostly resting on the hips. Ruffles were abundant, also with a droopy, almost lazy feel to them. Lepore ended the show with three loose-fitting Grecian-like gowns in velvet. These were ambitious, but far from flattering, as the velvet was too heavy a fabric to pull off the type of detailed draping she was aiming for. Even the pin thin models looked bulky and weighed down.

Trend Spotting: Velvet, ruffles, grey knit tights, pendant necklaces, chain and tassel-ridden handbags.
Overall Impression: Her palette was refreshing for fall with coats and dresses in colors other than black. However, I would recommend buying your formal gowns from another designer.
