Eco-Chic: Target Presents the Billboard Campaign Tote
Here's a little fun news for your weekend. Target, who has famously forged partnerships with brilliant designers to present affordable capsule collections at closet-friendly prices, has collaborated with rocker-chic designer favorite Anna Sui for the best recycled accessory idea ever.
Beginning this weekend and running through October 31, Target is featuring commissioned art from emerging artists Michael Anderson, Charles Wilkin and Josh Goldstein, on its Times Square billboards like the one in the photograph above. When this very large-scale public exhibit ends, the vinyl used to create the billboards’ vinyl will be transformed into 1,600 limited-edition, "upcycled" tote bags, using a design created by Anna Sui.
These limited edition tote bags are made of 90% recycled flex bulletin vinyl and feature Sui's signature rock-and-roll style details like black enamel studs. Destined to be the new eco-chic "it" bag this season, they'll retail for $29.99 and will be available via Target's website at http://target.com/billboardbag immediately while supplies last. Purchasers will be able to select which of the three artist’s work they prefer to have recycled into their tote bag and the bags will be shipped right to your door in early January.
If you're in NYC this weekend, definitely head to Times Square to check out these amazing public art displays, but pick your designer quickly because these limited-edition totes are bound to go fast.
Happy eco-chic shopping, everyone!
