FSB Directory to Fashion's Night Out: Major Retailers Rock Out

Have you heard of Fashion's Night Out? Well, get ready for the biggest shopping night of the entire year: the ultimate partnership between Vogue, the CFDA, NYC & Company and the City of New York, it's a night where retailers are pulling out all the stops to get us all shopping again.

Let me just say now that if I don't shop any other night of the year, THIS will be the night. Where to go when literally every retailer in town is participating in this non-stop fashion and shopping party? Here are my picks for the best of the night when it comes to department stores and larger retail spaces:



Barneys New York will transform itself into a street fair of celebrity appearances and activities that should keep you talking for days. You'll shop with (and meet!) Isabel Toledo, the designers from Rag & Bone, Narciso Rodriguez, Thom Browne, Jonathan Adler, Lisa Perry, Alexander Wang, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, just for starters. Poppy King of the beauty brand Lipstick Queen will offer “lip readings”; Loomstate will be customizing T-shirts; and Alabama Chanin will host a sewing circle just to name a few. Take a salsa class, enjoy neapolitan treats, join a knitting class with Wool and the Gang: so much to do, so much fun to be had!



The Plaza Beauty by Warren-Tricomi will allow shoppers the opportunity to experience the entire beauty collection at this brilliant luxury beauty retailer in the iconic Plaza Hotel. Receive a touch-up from Smashbox and Becca makeup artists and indulge in hand massages and mini-facials from aestheticians from Sjal and Comfort Zone. Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi will demonstrate color and hair cutting styles on various models and - cross your fingers- you can even win a Day of Beauty certificate to the Warren-Tricomi Salon with Joel and Edward! Best of all, you'll walk away with special, deluxe-sized samples of the high-quality products available at this genius retailer, like Lisa Hoffman Skincare, Tocca, Revitalash, Luzern Skincare, Kai, Santa Maria Novella, MLAB and Sponge Skincare.



Not to be outdone, Bergdorf Goodman is also pulling out all the stops: Zac Posen will be painting one-of-a-kind creations (available for sale) in the Fifth Avenue windows. Inside, adjust your schedules accordingly: 5:30–6:30 P.M. Padma Lakshmi from Bravo’s Top Chef will judge a designer cook-off with Peter Som, Cynthia Rowley, and others; 6:00–7:00 P.M. Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen will be guest bartending; 7:00pm Andre Leon Talley hosts the new game, "Fashion Rules", with teams led by Donna Karan, Linda Fargo, and Robert Verdi. 8:00–9:00 pm designer Alexander Wang presents his T-shirts benefiting the September 11 Memorial. Chat with Isaac Mizrahi and compare purchases to tunes by the Ben Waltzer Trio around 9:00 P.M., then have the designers present sign your Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt benefiting the September 11 Memorial. Brilliant celebrity DJs, cocktails and shopping are all available.


Last but not least, Saks Fifth Avenue is bringing out their A-game for the occasion. Walk a red carpet into the iconic New York Flagship and prepare to mingle with designers, including Donna Karan— who will inaugurate her new in-store shop at 5 p.m. to kick-off to the evening— Carolina Hererra, Elie Tahari Giuseppe Zanotti, Josie Natori, Peter Som, Ralph Rucci, Geren Ford, Shoshanna Gruss, Kay Unger, and many more. Get up close and beautiful with some of the biggest names in the beauty industry when Aerin Lauder, Bobbi Brown and Fredrick Fekkai make the rounds that night and cross your fingers: there will be over 1,000 cosmetic giveaways that night.
